"Everest Sunrise" Photo of the Week 32

2.00

This is the subtledream photo of the week for week #32 (August 7-13) of 2017. This is a special moment captured in a 12-image panorama from sunrise atop Kala Patthar, a 5,643 m (18,514 ft) peak above the town of Gorakshep and a few hours hike from the famous Everest Basecamp. Taken at 6:57am, the light from the sun was just minutes away from appearing to the left of Mt. Everest itself. Pumori  (Nepali: पुमोरि) (or Pumo Ri) is the dominant peak in the center at 7,161 m (23,494 ft). Everest, also called Sagarmāthā in Nepali and Chomolungma in Tibetan is 8,848 m (29,029 ft) high, is the dark peak where the sun beam is drawn into the sky. This is the highest elevation I have ever been at (at the time of writing). It's incredible what our bodies are capable of adapting to under extreme conditions with proper preparations, nutrition, and mindset.
